Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh – In a significant development, YS Sharmila has been announced as the candidate for the Kadapa Parliament constituency. The decision was finalized during the Congress Central Election Committee meeting held in Delhi today. This decision marks a pivotal moment in the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh (AP). While several key decisions were made regarding candidates across various constituencies in AP during the meeting, seats for Tirupati, Nandyala, Anantapur, Guntur, Vijayawada, Amalapuram, Kurnool, and Araku are yet to be finalized by the party.
The Congress party’s move to keep certain seats pending reflects strategic considerations, particularly in light of seat allocations to other opposition parties. Notably, senior leaders Gidugu Rudra Raju and JD Seelam are set to contest from Bapatla in the Rajahmundry parliamentary constituency. However, veteran leader Raghuveera Reddy has opted out of the electoral fray this time. Meanwhile, former MP Pallam Raju will be the Congress candidate from Kakinada.
The CEC deliberated on a total of 117 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats in AP, with 58 Assembly and 8 Lok Sabha seats still awaiting finalization by the Congress party. Notable among the pending Lok Sabha seats are Nandyala, Tirupati, Anantapuram, Kurnool, Vijayawada, Araku, Guntur, and Amalapuram.
The political landscape in AP is undergoing significant shifts, with TDP-Janasena alliance garnering attention. Amidst this, Gidugu Rudra Raju is set to contest from Rajahmundry, while Satya Reddy will represent Visakhapatnam, and Pallam Raju from Kakinada in the Lok Sabha elections. Former Union Minister JD Seelam is gearing up for the electoral battle in Bapatla.
The announcement of YS Sharmila’s candidacy for the Kadapa Parliament seat has sparked considerable interest, especially considering the constituency’s significance as the stronghold of CM Jagan. With both YS Sharmila and YS Avinash Reddy, CM Jagan’s brother and the incumbent MP, vying for the seat, Kadapa has become a focal point of political intrigue. The contest between the late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s daughter and CM Jagan’s sister adds an intriguing dimension to the electoral dynamics, leaving observers eager to witness the outcome of the impending elections
