Supreme Court Rejects Re-NEET Demand, Says No Systemic Breach in Exam

By Tirri Venkat Vinod Jul 23, 2024

The Supreme Court has rejected the plea for a re-test of the NEET-UG 2024 exam, citing no evidence of a systemic breach or compromise in the exam’s sanctity. Despite localized question paper leaks in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh and Patna in Bihar, the court found no merit in reconducting the exam.

A bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud acknowledged the question paper leak in at least two exam centers but emphasized the significant consequences of ordering a re-test for 23.33 lakh aspiring medical professionals. The court highlighted the need for concrete evidence to establish a systemic breach or compromise in the exam’s sanctity.

The CBI is investigating a nationwide ‘solver gang’ racket responsible for leaking question papers, with the Hazaribagh leak flagged as ‘Ground Zero.’
