Piriya Vijaya, the Zilla Parishad Chairperson of Srikakulam, is the current YSRCP in-charge for Ichchapuram Assembly constituency. She replaced her husband, Piriya Sairaj, who contested the seat in 2019 but lost to the TDP.
The appointment, made in early 2024, is part of YSRCP’s strategy to regain the TDP stronghold by bringing in fresh leadership, strengthening local connections, and promoting women in politics. Ichchapuram, a key border constituency, holds strategic importance for the party in the upcoming elections.
