Political Career of KCR
- In 1983, KCR became involved in politics by joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). From the Siddipet Constituency, he was elected four times (1985–2003) to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was the Andhra Pradesh government’s Minister of Transport and Drought & Relief.
- To support the creation of a Telangana state on its own, KCR left the TDP in 2001 and founded the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). After more than ten years of leadership, the Telangana agitation resulted in the state’s creation in 2014.
- KCR was elected as the first Chief Minister of Telangana in 2014. He was re-elected for a second term in 2018. He is a popular leader in Telangana, and he is credited with bringing significant development to the state.
