Seethakka orginal name is Danasari Anasuya

Family Background of Seethakka

  • Spouse: Ramu (deceased)
  • Seethakka was married to Ramu, a Naxalite leader, in 1987 at the young age of 14. Both  Seethakka and Ramu were actively involved in the Naxalite movement for several years. Sadly, Ramu passed away in a police encounter in 2005.
  • Children: Seethakkahas three children – one daughter and two sons.
  • Grandchildren: She also has two grandchildren.

 Seethakka Journey:

  • Born into a humble Adivasi Koya tribal family in Jaggannapeta village, Telangana,  Seethakka’s life has been marked by both struggle and resilience. Despite facing economic hardship and societal challenges, she pursued her education and became a lawyer after leaving the Naxalite movement in 1997.  Seethakka’s commitment to social justice and advocacy for the underprivileged continues to inspire many.

Political career of  Seethakka

  • Seethakka entered politics in 2004 when she joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). She contested the Mulugu Assembly constituency in the same year but lost. She won the seat in 2009 and 2014.
  • In 2017,  Seethakka left the TDP and joined the Indian National Congress. She won the Mulugu Assembly constituency again in 2018 and 2023.
  • In 2023,  Seethakka was inducted into the Telangana cabinet as the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare. She is the first Adivasi woman to hold this position.

According to  the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly elections, Danasari  Seethakka owns the following properties:

  • The total value of  Seethakka’s assets is estimated to be ₹82,83,669.
  • Two residential properties in Jaggayyapet, Mulugu district: One property is a self-acquired house with a total area of 1000 square feet, and the other property is an inherited house with a total area of 2700 square feet.
  • One flat in Hanamkonda, Warangal district: The flat is located in a residential complex and has a total area of 1367 square feet.  Seethakka purchased the flat in 2012 for ₹18,15,940.
  • Cash and bank deposits:  Seethakka has cash and bank deposits worth ₹1,00,000.
  • Investments:  Seethakka has investments in mutual funds worth ₹72,269 and ₹9,900, respectively. She also has a fixed deposit with a bank worth ₹1,500.

Criminal case of  Seethakka

According to 2023 the Election Commission Seethakka is facing two criminal cases.

  • Case 1 (2012): She was arrested on charges of attempt to murder, rioting, and obstructing public servants. The charges stem from an incident in which she allegedly led a mob of supporters to attack a police station in Warangal. She was released on bail after spending a few days in jail.
  • Case 2 (2013): She was again arrested on charges of rioting and obstructing public servants. The charges stem from an incident in which she allegedly led a protest against the government’s land acquisition policy. She was released on bail after spending a few days in jail.
