Nitish Kumar and his betrayal saga
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is well known for his long record of u-turns and betrayals in Bihar politics. Though it is a common culture among politicians, especially in a large democratic nation like India. But Kumar’s continuous habit of changing multiple partners is well known. His recent turn to come out from alliances formed with RJD and Congress resigned his position as Chief Minister and formed an alliance with NDA thus retaining his position as CM. Looking at history Nitish Kumar betrayed the mandate multiple times, firstly he broke the mandate of 2015 in 2017. During the 2020 legislative elections in Bihar, the Janata Dal(United) led by Nitish Kumar formed the government with the alliance of the BJP. He broke the mandate in 2022, formed an alliance with RJD+Congress, and formed the government. This clearly shows his instability and betrayal-kind-of governance. He is a man who drives with power and hunger making him go to extremes to guard his seat.
Yesterday’s Foes are today’s Friends
Not so long ago BJP said it would never again join hands with Nitish Kumar. But Kumar raised allegations against the BJP regarding a sensitive topic alleging BJP negligence towards certain castes. So BJP had no other option but to re-align with JD(U) which is backed by a significant number of Non-Yadav and other backward classes. The Alliance is also a huge plus point for JD(U), looking at the current scenario the Ayodhya Ram mandir garnered a lot of attention among Hindus. So through this alliance, Nitish Kumar benefited a lot. The current trend and statistics also show significant growth of support in the JDU-NDA alliance and approval from the BJP voter base.
NDA boosted its claim both in legislative and Lok Sabha
This switch from Nitish Kumar turned out immensely favorable for NDA both in assembly and Lok sabha. The RJD+Congress had a clear majority of vote share with Nitish on their side. But the current shift from him leaves them in a dilemma. But on the other side, it’s clear-cut that BJP+JD(U) is confirmed for the 2025 elections. This allows NDA to grasp asmany as lok sabha seats to strengthen itself in parliament.
Conclusion
Looking at the current situation Nitish might have saved his power but his position is being raided by his opponents. The people of Bihar are unhappy with his ruling and frequent flips. His greed for power and unethical political moves are keenly observed by people. He might be happy for now but it’s only a temporary success.
