Jharkhand Governor has been appointed as the new governor of Telangana, marking the third time a Tamil Nadu native has held the position in the state. Radhakrishnan, a two-time BJP MP from Coimbatore, previously served as the Governor of Jharkhand. Tamilisai Sounderarajan resigned to contest elections in Tamil Nadu.
Radha Krishnan was a senior leader of the BJP in Tamil Nadu. He was a two-time MP (1998 and 1999) who represented the Coimbatore constituency. However, he lost in the 2004, 2014 and 2019 elections. He was made the Governor of Jharkhand in 2023.
