Step-by-Step Guide to Voting in an Electronic Voting System
- A poll worker will first verify that your name is on the voter list and that your identification is valid.
- The second poll worker will sign a register, give you a slip, and ink your finger (Form 17A)
- To enter the polling booth, you must first deposit the slip with the third poll worker and display your inked finger.
- By selecting the ballot button next to the preferred candidate’s symbol on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), you can record your vote. A beep will sound.
- Examine the slip that shows up in the VVPAT machine’s transparent window. Before it falls into the sealed VVPAT, the slip with the Candidate’s name, serial number, and symbol must be visible for seven seconds.
What is VVPAT and where can you find it?
- With the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), you can make sure the candidate of your choice has received your vote.
- The voting machine and the VVPAT box will be stored in the same compartment. A slip appears in the VVPAT machine’s transparent window.
- The name and emblem of the candidate are on the slip.
- It will drop into the sealed VVPAT box after being visible for seven seconds.
