Basavaraj Bommai was born on January 28, 1963, in Hubli, Karnataka, India. He comes from a family of farmers and was raised with strong values of hard work and public service. Bommai completed his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Karnataka University and later pursued his Master’s in Business Administration from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
Basavaraj Bommai is married to Chennamma Bommai, a homemaker and social worker. They have two children, a son, Govind Bommai, and a daughter, Sunita Bommai. His family has been a constant source of support throughout his political journey.
Basavaraj Bommai’s political journey began in 2004 when he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Hubli-Dharwad West constituency. He later became the Minister of Water Resources in the Government of Karnataka, playing a crucial role in shaping the state’s water policy. In 2021, he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, leading the state towards a new era of growth and development.
