Dr. Buchepalli Siva Prasad Reddy began his political journey in the early 2000s. He first served as the Mandal Praja Parishad President for Chimakurthy from 2006 to 2009. In August 2005, he won the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) election in Chimakurthy.

In 2009, he was elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Darsi constituency, representing the Indian National Congress (INC), defeating the Telugu Desam Party candidate Mannam Venkata Ramana.
