Early Life of Gottipati Ravi Kumar

Gottipati Ravi Kumar, popularly known as Bujji, was born on 9 November 1974 into a farming family in Andhra Pradesh. His father, Gottipati Seshagiri Rao, was also involved in agriculture. Growing up in a rural setting, Ravi Kumar developed a strong connection with farming while also venturing into business activities.

Ravi Kumar pursued his intermediate education at Vidwan Junior College in Guntur in 1993. He later joined B.I.E.T. College in Davangere, Karnataka, for a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree, but he discontinued his graduation.

Political Career of Gottipati Ravi Kumar

Gottipati Ravi Kumar has had a dynamic political career, representing different parties over the years and securing victories in five consecutive Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections.

2004: Started his political journey with the Indian National Congress (INC) and won from Martur Assembly constituency, defeating Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate Gottipati Narasimha Rao by a margin of 13,806 votes.

2009: Re-elected from the Addanki Assembly constituency as an INC candidate, defeating Karanam Balaram Krishna Murthy (TDP) by 15,764 votes.

2014: Joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and won again from Addanki, defeating Karanam Venkatesh (TDP) by 4,235 votes.

2016: Switched to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the presence of then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

2019: Re-elected as a TDP candidate from Addanki, defeating Bachina Chenchu Garataiah (YSRCP) by 12,991 votes. He was the only candidate among 23 YSRCP defectors to win the 2019 elections after switching to TDP.

2024: Secured another victory in Addanki, defeating his opponent with a record-breaking margin of 24,840 votes. He was subsequently appointed as the Minister for Energy in the Fourth N. Chandrababu Naidu Ministry.
