Kandula Narayana Reddy Political Career
Kandula Narayana Reddy started his political career with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2004. He contested the 2004 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election but lost to K. P. Konda Reddy. However, in 2009, he emerged as a strong leader, defeating four-time MLA Kunduru Pedda Konda Reddy of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 9,054 votes. He was termed a “giant killer” for this victory.
In 2024, Reddy won the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from the Markapuram Assembly constituency, representing TDP. He secured 99,005 votes, defeating Anna Rambabu of the YSR Congress Party by 13,979 votes. This victory marked his second term as an MLA. He significantly advocated for a separate Markapuram district, including Kanigiri, Giddalur, Darsi, and Yerragondapalem, aiming to develop the western region.
