The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru witnessed history today as the Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth 287/3 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. This is the highest total ever recorded in the history of the Indian Premier League, surpassing their previous record of 277/3 set by SRH against Mumbai Indians this season.
Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma provided a solid foundation for SRH, stitching together a solid opening. Head continued his dominant form, scoring a magnificent century 102(41) before falling prey to Lockie Ferguson . Heinrich Klaasen then took center stage, smashing a quickfire 67 off just 31 deliveries to propel SRH to a stratospheric total. Later Abdul Samad joined the part with a brutal cameo of 37(10) along with Aiden Markram’s 32(17)
The RCB bowlers, despite their best efforts, couldn’t contain the onslaught. Harshal Patel picked up two wickets, but the rest of the attack struggled against the rampant SRH batsmen.
With a target of 288 to chase, RCB’s chase seems improbable. The match is still ongoing, but SRH
but SRH are firmly in control and look set to register a historic victory.
